SAME-IFMA CFM Exam Review Course

General Info:

The San Antonio Post in conjunction with the local Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) will host a two-day Certified Facility Manager (CFM) Exam Review Course at the Bright Shawl (downtown San Antonio), November 11-12 (Thursday-Friday), 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. 

This course will help participants earn their CFM certification which is the most respected global credential in facility management.

The course is organized around the following nine areas of facility management competency: Leadership and Management, Planning and Project Management, Communication, Operations and Maintenance, Finance Quality Assessment and Innovation, Human and Environmental Factors, Real Estate, and Technology.

Eligibility:

This course is open to SAME and IFMA members and non-members interested in pursuing CFM certification. 

The ideal course size is 30 participants. A minimum enrollment of 20 students is required to conduct the course.

SAME San Antonio Post members (up to a total of 15) are eligible for a special discounted rate for the course (see above); for these participants the San Antonio Post will cover $50 off the course registration cost under its 2010 member professional development initiative.  To be eligible for this special rate, you must be listed as a San Antonio Post member on the current membership listings available at the Post website.

Instructor:

The instructor for the course will be Mr. Jon Martens, IFMA Fellow, CFM, CFMJ, IFMA-Certified CFM Exam Review Instructor. 

Jon is the Facilities Operations Division Manager for the County of Sonoma  managing teams in all aspects of operations, maintenance and construction activities within the Facility Operations Division of General Services located in Santa Rosa, CA.

He has more than 35 years of in-depth and diverse facilities experience. The majority of his background has been in the private sector with manufacturing and facilities management organizations.

Registration:

The registration fee includes the CFM course materials and continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments during the course for each particpant.

Continuing Educations Units (CEUs):

Course attendees can earn up to 1.5 CEUs which is equivalent to 15 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) to use toward their professional license renewal requirements 

Directions:

1. Take I-35 toward downtown San Antonio
2. Take the Brooklyn Ave exit, Exit 157B
3. Turn on Brooklyn toward the center of downtown (left/right depending on which direction of I-35 you were traveling on)
4. Turn right on Augusta (about 3 blocks from your turn on to Brooklyn)
5. The  driveway of the Bright Shawl is on the right (auxiliary parking is directly across the street) 

Registration Deadline:

Registration will be open until Monday, November 1, or until the maximum number of course participants is reached.  So if you are interested, register early!

Cancellations:

Any cancellation must be also received by Monday, November 1.  

If cancelled by the deadline, a full refund will be issued to the course registrant. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after the cancellation deadline.

If the required minimum course size is not attained by the registration deadline, a full refund will be issued to all registered students.
